Founded in 1987 The Pilgrimaires are Plymouth's oldest Barbershop Chorus and twice winners of the UK Championship Gold Medal. The Chorus was one of the first in the UK to tour the US, performing in various prestigious locations including the grounds of the White House.

In the UK they have performed in York Minster and The Royal Albert Hall and have appeared on national and local television.

The most significant event in their recent history is that for the first time they have appointed a lady as chorus Director. Elaine Ford, herself an experienced barbershop singer and national Ladies Quartet Bronze Medallist, has directed them since the early part of this 2011 and both she and the chorus have been aware of a renewed sense of enthusiasm which has been reflected in more dynamic performances.

They look to put the improvement to good effect by continuing to sing competitively at local and national level, to raise significant funds for local charities (their annual charity this year is The Plymouth and District Special Olympics), but, above all, their aim is to entertain.
