If you live anywhere near Plymouth and you appreciate jazz music then go to the home of local jazz music...

The Plymouth Jazz Club.

 Formed in 1984 by a group of jazz enthusiasts who now regularly meet at the Matchroom in Colebrook.

Their aim was to promote live jazz music right here in Plymouth and have certainly been successful over the years. They have featured at their many Plymouth gigs a combination of local, regional, national and international jazz artists and groups and organise exciting venues like Saltram House and Tamar River boat trips to add a bit of elegance to the occasion.

Over the years they have attracted many a big name in the jazz entertainment world to come to Devon and now organise an impressive 15 gigs every year which are available to their members and the general public alike.

Each year the members  elect a committee of 9 to run the club and membership is open to all who appreciate jazz music. You can join just by turning up at their next gig which are always advertised on ActivPlymouth ‘What’s On’ pages.

You don’t have to be a member to go to a gig but if you are then it saves you £2 every time you purchase your entrance tickets, which are always great value anyway.

Their usual venue at The Matchroom provides a cabaret style layout with the stage visible from all parts of the room and good acoustics for you to enjoy the music. With a well stocked bar and hot food available you really can’t go wrong if you like to tap the night away with a bit of live jazz.

If you are coming some distance for one of the gigs you may want to stay at one of our Plymouth Hotels or have a meal at a Plymouth restaurant.
