There are thousands of community centres up and down the country some good, and some not so good. But in Plymouth we are blessed with a number of excellent community centres one of which is run by the Colebrook Community Association.

Behind a successful community centre is usually a small minority of dedicated people who keep things going for the benefit of the majority. This is true of the Colebrook Community Association which has a small team who are constantly raising money in order to fund various classes and events for everyone to enjoy.
Being a self-funding Charity, Colebrook Community Association is totally dependent on raising money for its own survival but it has been successful enough to be able to donate to other good causes.  In the recent past donations of several hundreds of pounds have been handed over to Help for Heroes and the newly formed Police Cadets, proving just how community spirited they are.

For most of the year one great form of fundraising is the weekly car boot sale (Feb –Nov) which you can always find on the ActivPlymouth Car Boot pages. Other events include a Summer Carnival and professionally run firework displays.

At Christmas they provide a free disco available to local children and a free Christmas meal for local O.A.P.’s with raffles, gifts and some Christmas cake to take home.

This is truly the sort of community association all areas in Plymouth should aspire to, bringing the people of the area together in a mood of celebration.
Throughout the year the Community Centre is open for many different classes which include Yoga, Healers, Street Dance, Latin Dance, Martial Arts, Pilates, Aerobics, Dog Training, Over 60's Club & Multiple Sclerosis Club.
The Community Centre Hall is available for hire and is ideal for children’s birthday parties, with use of a kitchen and off-road parking in a lovely meadow setting. You can also book the hall for meetings and it can comfortably hold about 60 people. Contact the hall direct for more details.
