Plymouth Intervarsity Club is one of a network of similar clubs throughout the UK. Originally, the club was started by some post graduates after the Second World War who fancied continuing their active social lives.

Plymouth Intervarsity Club was founded in 1976 and now, in 2011, they are celebrating their 35th anniversary. The club is aimed at professional, graduate and like-minded people but don’t let that put you off. They offer a wide ranging programme of sporting and social activities ranging from water sports, theatre visits, home events, weekends away, dining experiences, walks and many more events besides. Events are published in a two monthly programme and hosted by members. 

Age is no barrier. Plymouth IVC are always encouraging new members to come and join them. New and exciting events are always welcome.

In 2012, they have another special year. In April, Plymouth IVC is hosting the Annual Conference. Delegates from other clubs will be converging on Plymouth for discussions, workshops, a variety of afternoon events and an evening ball. The theme this year will be 'Anchors Away' and judging from past conferences, the standard of fancy dress will be very high!

However, the purpose of the club is simple and that is to meet people to have a lot of fun.
